Clarification on Change of Perspective

I had a question about a suggestion in last Sunday’s blog because I might not have been clear.  Take one Perspective and only one and find alternatives to that one.  (Do not pile up a bunch of negative perspectives on your shoulders.  Take any potentially negative perspective and rephrase it in a way that helps your energy rise.)  So if your perspective is that “I am too old to get the job, I want”, other perspectives might be:

  • I have maturity and experience that would be valuable.
  • Age is irrelevant.  Skills are important and I have skills.
  • Companies should be lucky to get someone like me with my attitude and experience.
  • I have always done a good job.  I am a known commodity.
  • I would hire me if I were them.

Let me know if this clarifies and I would be glad to hear from you.  You can reach me at jill@careercoachjill.com.
